Uneven domestic tourism demand in times of pandemic

This study investigates the short-run impact of COVID-19 pandemic on number domestic overnight stays at regional level in summer season 2020. Official data for 65 regions four countries are used analysis (Austria, Czech Republic, Germany and Switzerland). Dynamic panel models employed to estimate a tourism demand equation (real GDP price fluctuations) augmented by average temperatures. Estimation results reveal that evolve unevenly first after outbreak pandemic. The effects show densely populated decreases 27% July as well August 2020, comparison with same months previous years, ceteris paribus.
